Fine original stipple engraving of the great actress in the role of Euphrasia in the tragedy by the Irish writer Arthur Murphy, "The Grecian Daughter."  Engraved by T. Wageman after the original of T. Woolnoth and issued in 1830 by John Cumberland.  Trimmed to 2.5 x 3.7 inches (6.5 x 9.5 cm), mounted to an itaglio relief-printed page measuring overall 6 x 8 inches (15.5 x 20.5 cm.). Read More...

Original ca. 1920 Wiele & Klein of Madras photograph of Master Manhar Barve, a child prodigy from India, shown in a striking full-length portrait seated with what appears to be a modified banjo.  The photograph measuring 14.5 x 10cm, on original photographer's card mount with embossed border reading "Master Manhar Barve / Infant Prodigy of Music / Bombay, India" to the lower margin.  Edges of mount toned, some stains to verso and a few creases to photograph and mount, overall very good. 7 x 10 inches [18 x 25.5 cm] overall. "Pioneer of Modern Music Dies" – 1965 Obituary Press Photograph

Original Associated Press obituary Wirephoto of the influential French-born composer.  The text below the photograph reads "(NY 32–Nov. 6) PIONEER OF MODERN MUSIC DIES –– / Edgard Varese, regarded by many as the first man to think of music in three dimensions, died today in a New York hospital following surgery.  Varese, who was born in France and came to America after World War 1, was a pioneer of electronic music and acknowledged American master of the young avant-grade.  He was 82.  (AP Wirephoto) (See AP wire story) (nw72205fls) 1965."  AP stamp to verso together with the date November 6, 1965.  Minor crease markings not immediately noticeable; in overall fine condition.  5 x 7 inches (13.1 x 17.3 cm.).
